1893 M.M. Buck & Co. Catalog: Lanterns

Following are scans of railroad lantern pages from the 1893 catalog of M.M. Buck & Co., makers of railroad and industrial supplies. The page on conductors' lanterns is basically identical to the 1900 catalog which is shown on a separate page, so it is omitted here. Click on the thumbnails for larger images. The text on the original pages is small, so scans are very large to allow readability and may take some time to download on a modem connection. Use your browser's [BACK] button to get back to this page. See note below about image resizing.

In the same catalog, globe #5 and #39 globe prices per dozen are as follows, using the exact wording: Lime: $1.25; Flint: $2.00; Green: $5.50; Blue: $5.50; Orange: $5.50; Ruby: $7.00. Not mention is made of prices for globe markings. "Lime" is probably what collectors refer to now as "clear". Also, note that Ruby (red) is more expensive than any other color! On the "Steamboat Lantern" above, no price is given in the catalog; evidently it was a custom quote.

Note: If you use Internet Explorer and have "automatic image resizing" turned on, the larger scans may shrink to the size of your browser window, which will probably make the print unreadable. To turn this off, go to [Tools] [Internet Options] [Advanced], scroll down to the Multimedia section, and uncheck "Enable Automatic Image Resizing". Click [Apply].
